Navy Controlling the Chesapeake Bay

 

The 1962 oil on canvas painting, "Battle off the Virginia Capes" by V. Zveg, depicting the 2-1/2 hour sea battle between the French fleet under Vice Admiral the Comte de Grasse against the British fleet of Admiral Thomas Graves on September 5, 1781 off the coast of Virginia, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
